What is AVID Monthly?
AVID Monthly is a curriculum resource developed by Australian teachers that provides K-10 teachers with actionable lesson plans that employ AVID’s critical reading strategies. Each lesson allows for both differentiation and scaffolding and grade/year levels assigned are provided as a guide only.
Lessons employ WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organisation, and Reading) strategies to analyse relevant texts, infographics, videos, and images, allowing students to think critically and connect prior knowledge to their current learning. The lessons are applicable in all subject areas so that schools can adopt a cross-disciplinary literacy approach to accelerate literacy schoolwide.
