About Student Success Path

Student Success Path is designed as an introduction to AVID methodologies and WICOR® strategies including focused note-taking, organisation, Philosophical Chairs and Socratic Seminars.

 

It is intended for teachers of any subject area. Participants will practise applying AVID’s high engagement teaching and learning strategies to their classroom contexts and gain an understanding of how tertiary and career readiness can be supported in all subject areas.

Participant Information

What will be provided?

Participants will be provided with:

  • Morning tea and lunch
  • Focused Note Taking paper
  • Pens and writing materials

 

What do I need to bring with me?

Participants will need to bring:

  • A charged laptop

Cost

Registration costs Student Success Path:

  • $400 excluding GST per participant
    for schools that are currently implementing AVID

  • $490 excluding GST per participant
    for schools that are not currently implementing AVID

Each registration includes a copy of the AVID Student Success Resource book.

Schools that are currently implementing AVID have the option to substitute their contracted Professional Learning days for registrations.

Please note, schools that opt to substitute their contracted PL days will be charged $95 (GST inclusive) per participant for the resource book.

Schools that opt to substitute their contracted PL days should use the promotional code PL2022 for the discount to be applied to their registration.

FAQs

General

Is catering provided?

Yes. Coffee, tea and lunch will be available for participants. Please provide any dietary requirements for each participant when purchasing tickets.

Will I receive a Certificate of Participation?

If you would like a Certificate of Participation for Student Success Path, please email avid.australia@vu.edu.au

I am not receiving emails about Student Success. How can I confirm that I entered the correct email address when I registered?

We recommend that you check your SPAM/Junk folder to check whether AVID Student Success Path emails are there.

If there are no AVID Student Success Path emails in your SPAM/Junk folder, please email avid.australia@vu.edu.au and we will assist you.

 

Registration and Payment

How do I register for Student Success Path?

If you require assistance in registering for Student Success please email avid.australia@vu.edu.au

Can I register on behalf of others?

You can register one or several other people from your school.

What payment options are available?

AVID Australia schools will be invoiced within six weeks of the conclusion of Student Success Path.

When registering, please select Invoice my school as your payment method. If your school requires payment to be made by a certain date, please notify us by email at avid.australia@vu.edu.au.

 

I registered but am unable to attend Student Success Path. Will I receive a refund?

Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to avid.australia@vu.edu.au prior to midnight 8 September 2022 without incurring a fee.

  • You will have a choice between a full refund or a credit voucher. Vouchers can be used for AVID Events, products, or services taking place within twelve months from the cancellation date.

Cancellation requests received on or after 8 September 2022:

  • You will have a choice between a full refund or a credit voucher less a $90 administration fee. Vouchers can be used for AVID Events, products, or services taking place within twelve months from the cancellation date.

Cancellation on 15 September 2022 (day of the event) or non-attendance:

  • Should you have an unforeseen emergency or special circumstance, please contact avid.australia@vu.edu.au or call +61 3 9919 7832.

If a participant does not cancel their registration prior to the first day of the event (15 September) and/or does not attend the event, a $90 administration fee will apply.

I am no longer able to participate in Student Success Path. Can I substitute a colleague for my registration?

Requests to substitute one registrant for another must be submitted via email to avid.australia@vu.edu.au prior to midnight 8 September 2022.
